Fred Kolkmann Tennis & Sport Surfaces helps people across North America get the most from their court and sport surface investments.

Principal Fred Kolkmann is an ASBA-Certified Tennis Court Builder, directs all company services, and will work directly with you on your tennis court project. In 2013 he was named Tennis Industry Magazine’s Builder/Contractor of the Year. Fred has 50-plus-years experience in tennis court and sport surface design and construction and has directed the construction or reconstruction of over 4,500 courts, including planning and directing the installation and repair of asphalt, modular, clay, post-tensioned concrete, and synthetic-turf tennis court surfaces.

He has unique and extensive experience in evaluating, designing, consulting and preparing construction cost estimates for both new and rehabilitation of tennis courts, and athletic tracks and field events facilities. Fred has also been involved with tennis court maintenance management programs. In 2009 he developed his own Tennis Court Evaluation and Maintenance Program for tennis court owners.

Since 1992, The United Tennis Court and Track Builders Association (USTC & TBA), now the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) has utilized Fred’s knowledge by engaging him as a presenter at 5 technical meetings.

He was a presenter at the 2018 World of Asphalt in Houston, TX, and the 2019 World of Asphalt in Indianapolis, IN. 

He has done construction seminars at the Wisconsin Park & Rec Conference and has held over 120 tennis court construction seminars since 1996 in 7 Midwest States.

Fred was awarded the Builder/Contractor of the Year Award by Tennis Industry Magazine in 2013.

Fourteen tennis court facilities, designed and built by Fred Kolkmann, have won 2 state and 14 national awards. These facilities have been recognized by the Wisconsin Ready Mix Association, American Sports Builders Association, and USTA.
